In this article the author argues that the sociology of religion must examine religion both in time and in space. Secularization is a Euro-centric paradigm that is not applicable to explain religious change in modern East Asia. Taking a “global East” or “global China” perspective, this article shows that religions remain alive and vital in China. Applying the Geographical Information System (GIS) techniques, this article maps some aspects of Chinese religious distributions in global China.
