As the demand for high-quality healthcare services and comfortable medical environment increases, the importance of hospital public space design is increasing . Since some hospital environment could be one of the stressors for patients, and visitors, hospital environments needs contribute to healing and wellbeing of patients and caregivers. The waiting and resting areas in a lobby in general hospitals are the first spaces that visitors and patients encounter, and overcrowding and congestion in these areas can add additional stress. With an aging population, the number of hospital visitor is expected to increase, further intensifying space congestion and workload. The purpose of this0 study is to examine the current state of lobbies and waiting areas in general hospitals from a supportive design perspective and identify issues and improvement measures from the user’s viewpoint. The ultimate goal is to provide foundational data for designing hospital public spaces that incorporate healing environment concepts. Some of waiting areas need to support the variety of patient users’ needs amd provide quite areas for retreat.
