The gender differences in thermal comfort in a building thermal environment have been identified in various studies. In particular, studies on gender differences in high-temperature environments play an important role in the energy efficiency of architectural and environmental design and in configuring personalized spaces. It is necessary to provide a comfortable environment for both men and women in a high-temperature environment by understanding physiological and psychological differences by gender. Therefore, this study investigated the differences in subjective thermal comfort perception and EEG responses of occupants by gender in a high-temperature thermal environment scenario. Thirteen male and female experimental participants were exposed to a high-temperature environment (PMV +2), and data were collected through self-report questionnaires and EEG measurements in the high-temperature environment. The results of the study confirmed that there were differences in thermal comfort by gender even in the same high-temperature environment. In addition, it was confirmed that EEG relative power, which can identify thermal comfort, and brain regions sensitive to the thermal environment were different by gender. The results of the study are significant in that they demonstrate that physiological signals can serve as biomarkers for distinguishing thermal comfort perception in non-neutral high-temperature environments, and in particular, they reveal that there are gender differences.
