The purpose of this paper is to describe the characteristics and significance of syntax of the standard Korean grammar and search the way it will be utilized. The standard Korean grammar has been developed under the project titled ‘Development of the standard Korean grammar’ supported by the National Institute of Korean Language for 5 years from 2013 to 2017. The standard Korean grammar can be base grammar and reference grammar. This paper also examines the functions of reference grammar and base grammar by presenting the possibility of using Korean language education and Korean language education in the field of syntax of standard grammar. The macroscopic system of syntax of standard grammar is similar to the school grammar. However, there are many differences in the microscopic contents. Theses changes reflect the results of syntactic research since 2002. The syntax field in standard grammar will help to develop a reference grammar for Korean language education.
