This study was designed to examine the effects of service training and external training for hotel employees on group`s performance, and investigate the relation between group`s characteristics and group`s performance. Previous and empirical researches were conducted at the same time in order to achieve the purposes of this study and then, service training, group performance and group characteristics were theoretically considered for a theoretical research. The results and implications of this study are as followings; Firstly, it was found that service improvement has a positive impact group`s performance, when conducting a basic service raining for hotel employees working in banquet room, and food and drink restaurant. It implies that service training should be conducted, constantly. Secondly, for creating good group performances in each position, new employees need to learn their duties through a basic service training, and managers should always remember the important of basic training to help supervisors have conduct a basic training for new and experienced employees in low positions. For employees working in a banquet room, repeating a basic service training depending on weekly and monthly schedules is effective to achieve a good group performance. For other departments, then, a systematical training considering their characteristics is more effective.
