The community building is attracted public attention with new paradigm of urban planning. This is expected to solve many problem of the modern city. To complicate the limit of physical urban planning, the community building require the restoration of communal character. This paper studies what influence the restoration of communal character have on citizens especially, women"s participation and role in terms of women"s life. I select Sung-Dae-Gol-Maeul in Dongjak-gu and Samgaksan-Jaeminan-Maeul in Gangbuk-gu, seoul as the case analysis objects, and analyze based on literature investigation of community building, depth interviews and media data. To conclude, women who take part in the community building socialized care-labor in the community, reestablished the value system through reeducation themselves and devoted to community as a means of realization of their needs.
