Objective: The aim of this study is to identify the main issues about the convenience and satisfaction of using low-floor bus and present design suggestions providing the same level of convenience and satisfaction for mobility handicapped and no-mobility handicapped when they are using low-floor bus. Background: Low floor buses are introduced to provide a mobility convenience to mobility handicapped and mobility handicapped suffer more difficulty than no mobility handicapped in using low floor buses. Method: The two surveys and two video observations were conducted to collect subjective and objective data about using low floor buses. The collected data were analyzed statistically and by using context of use of low floor buses. Next, using analyzed data, a total of 3 main issues were extracted and by establishing the cause, we present design suggestions. Results: There were distinct behaviors and tendencies in using support purposed interior design tools between mobility handicapped and no mobility handicapped. And passengers have difficulty in sitting seats on front wheel-pan. Conclusion: By passengers’ type and gender, we can target the support purposed tools and redesign the sitting space in front wheel-pan systematically. Application: The presented design suggestions might applied to development of low floor buses and other public transportations.
