This study examines the specific situation that the Chosun Viceroy fostered a shipbuilding industry in order to enlarge production capacity necessary to maintain war in the late rule of Japanese Imperialism. To explain it, I seek to analyze the process toward build the Chosun Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and its management. The results of the examination are as follows.
In the Pacific war, Japan sought to concentrate all materials and resources on all their efforts to the promotion of the wartime industry by tightening a controlled economic system. However, a condition was needed to make their colony. Chosun, perform this policy: enlargement or at least maintenance of production capacity from Japan. Because the military situation was against Japan, the increase of production was needed further higher than before, and then Chosun's dependence on Japan in the in dusty was also necessary. However, the realities were just the opposite: Chosun was born under a vulnerable point due to its industrialization in wartime system.
The process toward build the Chosun Shipbuilding Industry Corporation typically indicates weak points of Chosun's industrialization in wartime system. The Chosun Viceroy tried to push the building of the Chosun Shipbuilding Industry Corporation to expand the marine transportation as a vein of Japanese Imperialism. And the Chosun Viceroy tried to reinforce 'mobilization' in Chosun to build a large shipyard in the decrease of production capacity from Japan. However, because Chosun had no the basis of the heavy chemical industry, mobilization in Chosun was impossible to fulfill the decrease of production capacity from Japan, Thus, the Chosun Viceroy was necessary to plan a new deal. but a practicable option was only to reinforce mobilization. In conclusion, it resulted in 'delay', 'disruption' and 'incompletion' in building the Chosun Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, when Japan was defeated in the Pacific War.
