There are distinct differences between the scholarship of literature and literary education, in the purpose and method. Some times we confused the literary education as the adaptation of the result of literary scholarship, that is the object we must overcome in the process of academic activities.
In the viewpoint of literary education, the questioning method must be conversed from “what is literature?” to “why the literature is significant?”, the former is the existential question and the later is an axiological question. In general, the education is a kind of axiological pursuit of human being that the questions in literary education asks us to be conversed axiologically.
In this paper, I suggested that the teachers of literature must have the literary sensitivity, and it examined with the propositions of Descartes and Pascal. The teachers who obtained the literary sensitivity, they can convert the questions about literature to the values configurated in literary text. The main items of value treated in literature may be arranged as follow; freedom of human conditions, configurative thinking, ethical sensitivity, self-reflection about human conditions and literature itself.
On these basis we can answer to that question “what is significant literature?” as bellow. It evokes some propositions on the value of significant literature. (1) It evokes that human being pursuit freedom of mind and the body. (2) It makes possible that to obtain the total self realization of human life. (3) It evokes and realize the sensitivity of ethics in configurational method. (4) It spurs the capability of self-reflection and realize their own life in literary way.
The characteristic aspect of literary education is that it manage the literature as an axiological substance, so as to be realized as the ethos of the students.
