Currently, researches on cyber universities are only Limited on subjects like education, informational technology, due to its unique on-line based character. There are social consensuses and needs for researches on off-line facilities of cyber universities such as recent discussions on appropriate size of off-line facilities, and managers and students request for upgrading off-line facilities on the topic. However no serious effort has been put into researches on architectural planning of it.
This paper has selected 7 cyber universities in Korea that existed for more than 3 years, and analyzed their off-line facilities to understand current architectural facilities conditions. In addition to above, this paper interviewed actual users (i.e., students, managers and professors) for suggestion on user-oriented criteria on architectural planning and basic architectural program for the future cyber universities.
